About Edulect
Politics is easier to follow when you start with two simple facts: who holds the offices that affect you, and what those offices are actually allowed to do. Edulect answers both, in plain language, for anyone who has never felt welcome in a civics conversation.
What Edulect does
- Finds your congressional district from an address or ZIP code.
- Shows your U.S. representative and both senators, with terms and contact details.
- Lists their recorded votes and the bills they sponsored or cosponsored.
- Shows who has filed with the Federal Election Commission for the next cycle.
- Explains each office in a page you can read in two minutes.
- Answers questions through an assistant that cites its sources.
What Edulect will not do
- Tell you who to vote for, or rank or grade officials.
- Call a person, party, or vote good, bad, brave, or extreme.
- Predict election results or speculate about motives.
- Use red-and-blue party coding in its design.
Where the data comes from
District boundaries come from the U.S. Census geocoder, member and legislative records from Congress.gov and the official chamber vote records, and candidate filings from the FEC. The methodology page lists each source, how often it refreshes, and how to report a correction.
Accounts are optional
Everything works signed out. An account only exists so you can save your address, follow officials, and keep your question history. Recent searches stay in your browser tab and are never stored on our servers or attached to an account.
